Terracotta Army: Legacy of the First Emperor of China

Discovered in 1974 by farmers in China, an underground army of nearly 8,000 life-size terracotta figures is regarded as one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century. Gathered from fourteen museums and archaeological institutes across Shaanxi Province, China, the works of Terracotta Army provide insights into Qin history, the creation of a unified China, the First Emperor’s rise to power, and his quest for immortality. As Latinos immigrate to Richmond, they establish permanent ties to their new home and begin to transform its culture. Through interviews, objects and images, this exhibition documents the region’s diverse Latino experience. Daily, Tuesday-Sunday, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
