SUMMARY:An Evening with The Mighty Wurlitzer – The Phantom of the Opera (1925)
DESCRIPTION:Come hear and see The Phantom of the Opera as it was originally intended. Ken Double, world renowned organist, will be playing the soundtrack accompanying the movie on The Mighty Wurlitzer as it was first seen over 100 years ago. The deformed Phantom who haunts the Paris Opera House causes murder and mayhem in an attempt to make the woman he loves a star. Ken Double, Organist at the Atlanta Fox Theatre: A 34-year former radio and television sportscaster, who at age 8 started taking organ lessons in his hometown, Chicago, KEN DOUBLE has enjoyed a second career focused on his love of the music of the theatre pipe organ. Ken has performed concerts on the great theatre pipe organs around the world including 8 tours of Australia; helped establish the Long Center Theatre Organ Society in Lafayette, Indiana where he has performed 41 annual summer concerts; spent ten years as the national President of the American Theatre Organ Society; and since 2016, has performed on Mighty Mo, the iconic Möller pipe organ at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, the city he has again called home since 2009. On Sunday, October 25th, Ken will carry his audience back 100 years in a musical time capsule, as he makes his Byrd Theatre debut with a screening of the 1925 silent film classic The Phantom of the Opera starring Lon Chaney. He and the Mighty Wurlitzer will act as the live musical sound track for this great movie, as Phantom is presented just as it was seen in 1925 when it first hit the silver screen
