DESCRIPTION:Calling all young musicians! Has your child been wanting to learn guitar? Kids Guitar Classes at Sound Hall Studios are the perfect place to start strumming. Designed for ages 10–14, this beginner group class welcomes both first-time players and kids who’ve already experimented with a few chords at home. Over eight fun-filled weeks, students build the fundamentals of guitar in a supportive, encouraging group setting, learning the basic parts of the guitar, introductory chords, chord transitions, and techniques for cleaner sound, all while working their way up to playing real songs together. Every lesson is designed to build confidence step-by-step, so students leave each class feeling accomplished and excited to keep practicing. Leading the class is Theocles Herrin, a singer, songwriter, and music teacher with more than six years of experience teaching guitar, vocals, ukulele, songwriting, and band lessons at Charlottesville-based nonprofit The Front Porch. His teaching philosophy is simple: music is meant to be fun. Theocles meets students where they are, helping practice feel exciting rather than overwhelming. Beyond the notes and chords, learning guitar helps young musicians build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music, and group classes make it even better by giving kids the chance to learn alongside other young musicians and experience the joy of making music together.
