SUMMARY:Civil War Day at Historic Point of Rocks
DESCRIPTION:Experience what happened on the historic grounds of the Strachan House and hospital site through the Civil War period. Learn about the Strachan family and enslaved people who lived there. Interpreters portraying the Surry Light Artillery will demonstrate artillery. Much of the event will be devoted to the Union Army’s occupation of Point of Rocks of 1864. Other activities will include portrayal of surgical staff and nursing along with tours of the house and grounds including walking in the footsteps of President Abraham Lincoln during his visit to the site in March 1865.
