SUMMARY:Dissent! A Revolutionary Richmond Bus Tour
DESCRIPTION:Before the Fourth, take a journey through some of the untold stories of the Revolution in Richmond. Drawing from new research in the Valentine’s exhibit Dissent! Liberty & Loyalty in Early Richmond, learn about the Tories, free African Americans, and enslaved people who pursued their own independence during the Revolutionary era and beyond. Plus, explore how the Revolutionary War shaped the trajectory of the City of Richmond — transforming it from a small town to a bustling city at the center of state and national politics. Your bus tour ticket includes free admission to the Dissent! exhibit before or after the tour. Advanced tickets are required. Tickets are $50 for adults and $40 for members. Tickets are non-refundable. Accessibility: People of all abilities are encouraged to join us. If you would benefit from a wheelchair accessible bus, please let us know in advance so we can ensure the bus is properly equipped by emailing tours@thevalentine.org. Tours are held rain or shine. However, in extreme weather, a tour may be cancelled. Notifications about tour status and cancellation will be sent to registrants via email. You can also call 804-649-0711 x 301 to verify a tour will take place. The Valentine’s walking tours are supported in part through a generous partnership with Richmond Region Tourism.
