Lafayette Bicentennial Farewell Tour Dinner

January 25 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$

In 1824, the Marquis de Lafayette, the last living Continental Army general from the American Revolution, returned to tour the United States as the “Nation’s Guest.” Over the next year, Lafayette was received with a hero’s welcome as he visited each of the then 24 American states, attending honors such as parades, balls, and dinners. On January 25, 1825, the Virginia General Assembly and other dignitaries, including Chief Justice John Marshall, hosted Lafayette in Richmond with a dinner and ball. Exactly 200 years later to the day, the VMHC will commemorate the anniversary of this dinner with a special evening program. (doors open at 5:45 pm).
