Short Pump Mile and Kids Fun Run

The event promotes fitness, camaraderie, school pride, family fun, and community involvement. There will be  400 meter non-timed Fun Run for those 5 and under kids who just aren't ready for the Big Kahuna (Mile). Cash awards are given to area schools to help with their Physical Education programs.

Educational program that use fun, participatory learning techniques to teach historical lessons about life in the nineteenth century. Includes a visit to the award-winning exhibit Duty Called Me Here and two hands-on programs, Plantation Life, and A Civil War Soldier’s Life, led by Pamplin Historical Park Educators. Teens and Technology: Dr. Jean Twenge

In her book, iGen, Dr. Jean Twenge examines the impact of technology on adolescents, including the soaring incidence of severe anxiety since the introduction of the smart phone. Dr. Twenge is a professor of psychology at San Diego State University and is the author of more than 140 scientific publications and books.
