Mark Morris Dance Group and Music Ensemble

Sounds Of China

Led by artistic director and composer Ma Jiuyue, an ensemble of contemporary Chinese folk musicians blending the ancient and modern by combining traditional Chinese music with modern arrangements. The group incorporates traditional Chinese instruments with Western orchestral instruments.

Russian pianist Trifonov with an incredibly rare U.S. performance. The evening’s program will include Beethoven’s Andante Favori, and Sonata No. 18, Op. 31, No. 3 (“The Hunt”); selections from Schumann’s Bunte Blätter, as well as his Presto passionato, Op. 22; and Prokofiev’s Sonata No. 8.

Tucker- Boastwright Festival Featuring Richmond Symphony
