Cinderella Dreams Collecting Dresses

image001Midlothian Junior Women’s Club Kicks Off 2014 Cinderella Dreams Project

This year the MJWC, Puritan Cleaners, Westchester Commons and Summit Media will team up for the Ninth annual Cinderella Dreams project. The project provides a dress and accessories to any girl who, just like Cinderella, needs help getting a gown for the ball. In 2013, we proudly worked with close to 30 community partners as we made this dream real for over 400 local high school students. Since the projects inception, close to 2,000 local teenagers have been wrapped in silk, chiffon, taffeta, put in magical slippers and sent to their own enchanted evening.
The Cinderella Dreams project is currently collecting new or gently used prom dresses and accessories (shoes, jewelry, handbags, wraps, new make-up and hair accessories) at Greater-Richmond YMCAs, Puritan Cleaners, and several local businesses. If you would like to host a dress drive please email [email protected]

Previous shoppers have expressed their gratitude and relief knowing that the burden of buying a dress has been lifted by the Cinderella Dreams project. All high school age girls are welcome to prom shop for a $5.00 donation to help cover the annual costs of the project.

The Cinderella Dress Shop will open its doors on Friday, March 14th from 5 -9PM, Sunday, March 16th from 1-4PM and Tuesday, March 18th from 7-9PM. Our storefront will be located at Westchester Commons near Rt.288 and Rt.60. Shopping is first-come, first-serve and the line will cut off an hour before shop closing. To participate in this project, email [email protected] to volunteer.
