Virginia Rep’s fun-filled camps are full of exploration, investigation and imagination. Our unique day camps provide an exciting and comprehensive understanding of professional theatre performance and production for students from Preschool through 12th grade. These camps are designed with the novice and seasoned performer in mind. With instruction by some of Virginia’s finest theatre artists and educators, your dramatic student will have a theatrical experience like no other!

SPRING BREAK DAY CAMP
For Grades K-5
April 1 – 5, 2019
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.(extended day options available 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.*)
Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn
Tuition: $275 per camper

Each day, campers will rotate through creative drama, music, dance and arts and crafts courses, taught by Virginia Rep’s professional educators. Campers will navigate classes and activities in a group of their own peers. The experience will encourage and support both the novice and the seasoned performer.

STAGE EXPLORERS
For Rising 1st – 6th Graders
June 17 – June 28, 2019
Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.* (extended day options available 8 a.m.-5 p.m.*)
Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn
Tuition: $525 per camper

Each day includes drama, music, dance and a production craft taught by Virginia Rep’s theatre professionals and educators. Campers are divided into three groups by grade level (or age) for the majority of their activities, but come together in rehearsals for the showcase-style performance.

YOUNG PERFORMER’S INSTITUTE
For Rising 7th – 10th Graders
July 8 – 19, 2019
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Virginia Rep’s November Theatre Downtown
Tuition: $525 per camper

YPI participants receive professional instruction and coaching in a wide variety of courses including acting, singing and dancing. Campers also enjoy unique seminars which focus on professional backstage work and tours of the sets and facilities. Additional courses have included Stage Combat, Shakespeare, Improv, and Film. Campers are prepared and encouraged to participate in a mock audition in front of Virginia Rep artistic staff and receive immediate feedback. The cost of tuition also includes a matinee performance ticket for The Wiz.

MUSICAL THEATRE SKILLS
For Rising 3rd – 8th Graders
Week # 1: July 22- July 26
Week # 2: July 29-August 2
Week # 3: August 5- August 9
All classes are Monday – Friday from 1 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Tuition: $175 per camper/per week

These one-week experiences are designed for the aspiring performer interested in sharpening their musical theatre skills – acting, singing, and dancing. Campers will be grouped with their peers based on experience level and age. Individual weeks in the series are self-contained experiences with different master instructors and new material per session. Sign up for one week, two weeks, or all three.

Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn

This performance camp is designed with the musical theatre lover in mind. Each day will begin with fun group warm-ups preparing our voices, bodies and minds for rehearsal. Campers will learn music, choreography, and all of their lines while working together as an ensemble. After the intensive two weeks of camp, the Summer Showtime cast will take their places in the spotlight with costumes, props, set, lights and music in four public performances.

DRAMATIC ADVENTURES for Preschoolers
For 3 to 5 year olds

Dramatic Adventures is the ideal first theatre camp for your preschool aged child. Through early literacy-based creative Story Drama, popular children’s literature comes to life as we explore the world of the story, engage with imaginative adventures and offer problem solving opportunities for campers. Each day includes drama, music, movement and craft time taught by Virginia Rep’s theatre professionals and educators.

CUE TO CUE For Rising 1st – 5th Graders July 22 – 26, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm 319 N Wilkinson Rd, Richmond, VA 23227
Tuition: $170 This half-day camp’s activities include singing, creative drama, dancing and a theatre craft taught by Virginia Rep’s professional educators. Campers will rotate through classes in a group of their own peers, based on grade level and age. The experience will encourage and support both the novice and the seasoned performer. On the last day, campers will perform songs and scenes for family and friends in the CAT Theatre space!

ACT-OUT! For Rising 6th – 8th Graders July 29 – August 2, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm 319 N Wilkinson Rd, Richmond, VA 23227
Tuition: $170 The Act-Out! half-day camp is the perfect place for your middle school student to explore theatre performance. Courses on acting, singing and dancing, taught by Virginia Rep’s own artistic staff, will inspire and embolden your young performer. A final camp performance will take place on August 2 and is open to friends and family.

SCENE & HEARD For Rising 9th – 12th Graders August 5 – 9, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm 319 N Wilkinson Rd, Richmond, VA 23227
Tuition: $170 With a focus on performance, scene study and audition prep, this engaging half-day camp will strengthen and enrich your high school student’s acting, singing and dancing abilities. At the close of camp, students will perform selections for their friends and family in the CAT Theatre space. Campers of all experience levels are encouraged to attend.
