Stage Explorers (rising 1st – 6th graders) – Each day includes drama, music, dance and a production craft taught by Virginia Rep’s theatre professionals and educators. The Stage Explorer campers are divided into three groups by grade level (or age) for the majority of their activities, but come together in rehearsals for the showcase-style performance on the final Friday afternoon. Stage Explorers is a fun and engaging camp for both the novice and experienced young performer.
Virginia Rep in Hanover (rising 1st – 8th graders) – No auditions required! There’s a role for everyone at this fun-filled week long camp, full of exploration, investigation and imagination! Campers will learn everything it takes to put on a show. At the end of the session, campers will produce and perform in a musical showcase performance for their family and friends.
Musical Theatre Skills Intensive (rising 3rd – 8th graders) – Spend one week focusing on the skills needed to continue growing as a “Triple Threat” performer. Grouped by experience level, students will receive intensive training in acting, vocal performance and dance technique each day.
Young Performers Institute (rising 7th -10th graders) – This two week camp offers participants professional instruction and coaching in a wide variety of intensive acting classes as well as seminars on special topics. YPI takes place at the Virginia Rep Center in downtown Richmond, allowing greater access to the professional facilities. The camp culminates with a final showcase where campers perform scenes, monologues, and improvisational acting games that they have worked on during camp.
Summer Showtime: musical theatre performance camp (rising 4th -12th graders) – BY AUDITION ONLY! This is your child’s opportunity to experience a professional level rehearsal process culminating with multiple public performances on the Children’s Theatre stage, all within the span of just two weeks!
