NT Live Broadcast: “Madness of King George III”

National Theatre Live’s first ever broadcast from Nottingham Playhouse. Written by one of Britain’s best-loved playwrights Alan Bennett, this epic play was also adapted into a BAFTA Award-winning film following its premiere on stage in 1991. It’s 1786 and King George III is the most powerful man in the world. But his behavior is becoming increasingly erratic as he succumbs to fits of lunacy.

The Charenée Wade Quartet

Known for her expert vocal improvisational ability and her seriously swinging groove, Wade evokes a classic jazz sound akin to Betty Carter and Sarah Vaughan, two of her musical touchstones. Her most recent album, Offering, is the first tribute album by a woman artist to the socially conscious poet and musician Gil Scott-Heron. Arrive early for a pre-performance discussion with the performers, led by WCVE Music Jazz host Peter Solomon at 6:30 p.m.
