To commemorate the state visit of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of Portugal, in June 2018, this exhibition presents the work of six Portuguese artists, whose paintings, photographs and other works on paper were chosen to reflect the range and vitality of contemporary art in Portugal. The 20 featured works of art are coming on loan from the Fundação Luso-American. Curated by Dr. Michael Taylor, VMFA’s chief curator and deputy director for art and education.

Pick up a family-friendly scavenger hunt at the Fine Arts & Flowers information desk and follow clues to find fragrant flowers and artful treasures in the VMFA galleries. Impressed by Nature with botanical artist and illustrator Celeste Johnston at 12:30 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. Children aged 7 and older, learn to create paper flowers and assemble them on handmade cards. Plus, performances by Matthew Woodhouse Group from Collegiate School and the Richmond Boys Choir.
