“Hadestown: Teen Edition” at Theatre on the James

Created by singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell in collaboration with three-time Obie Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown won eight Tony Awards in 2019 as well as the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album. A love story for yesterday, today, and always, Hadestown retells two tales from Classical Greek mythology. Intertwining the story of Orpheus (Vin Frank) and Eurydice (Frances Roberts) with that of Hades (Elijah Venable) and Persephone (Zoe Baugh), the sung-through musical asks us how far we would go for love, and what we would be willing to do to rekindle love that has cooled. Presented by Theatre on the James, the student-led theatre company performing at James River High School.
