Spotlighting the Spectacular Young Talent of Richmond
Young people from across the city will come together on Wednesday, May 15 at “The BIG Show,” ART 180’s annual event to celebrate young people and share their art and ideas with the Richmond community. The show, which is free and open to the public, will highlight the 11 community-based programs in creative expression offered by ART 180 this spring.
Exhibitions of visual art projects will be on display, while the performance-based art forms will be presented on stage. The event begins at 6 p.m. at Plant Zero Art Center located at 0 E. 4th St., three blocks south of the 14th Street/Mayo’s Bridge. Free parking is available in the large fenced lot on Hull between 4th and 5th streets. Refreshments will be provided, and children are welcome.

ART 180 gives young people in challenging circumstances the chance to express themselves through art, and to share their stories with others. For the past 15 years, the nonprofit group has worked with youth in the Richmond area to create art that explains and illustrates their feelings, thoughts and experiences. Partnering with other organizations that serve children, ART 180 designs projects that allow for self-expression, and creates venues for this expression in the community. The name reflects their vision of turning lives and communities around 180 degrees.
