Radio One Toy Drive Broadcasts LIVE from two locations this week

Wed & Thurs at Chesterfield Towne Center;
Friday at Lowe’s of Central Richmond.
Goal to Fill Two PODS with Toys for over 1000
Richmond Families in Need. 10th Year Running!

For the 10th consecutive year, Radio One’s KISS-FM 99.3/105.7FM,
iPower 92.1 FM and Praise 104.7FM have teamed up with the Mayor’s
office and the City of Richmond Fire & Rescue to host one of the
largest Toy Drive’s in the Richmond area.

The Mayor’s office and all City of Richmond Fire Stations have been
collecting toys at their locations for distribution to Richmond area
families leading up to the finale.

The last three days of toy collection culminate this week where two
large PODS need to be filled to accommodate the families: December
11, 12 and 13th . December 11 and 12: Radio One personalities from
Kiss-FM 99.3/105.7, iPower 92.1-FM and Praise 104.7FMwill
broadcast live Center Court at Chesterfield Towne Center Mall to fill a
POD parked outside with new unwrapped toys. All Radio One
stations will broadcast LIVE from 10:00am to 10:00pmWednesday
and Thursday at the mall.

Friday, Dec. 13, the Toy Drive Finale starts at 6:00AM under a large
tent in the parking lot of Lowes of Central Richmond, 1640West
Broad Street. The Yolanda Adams Morning Show will broadcast
nationally LIVE from 6am – 10am. FREE Breakfast will be served to
the first 200 listeners who arrive. Seating will be provided for the
first 200 people.

In addition, national recording artists Vashawn Mitchell, Anthony
Brown & Group Therapy, Byron Cage, Alexis Spight and the St. Paul’s
choir will performlive starting in the 6:00AM hour. Lowes will be
giving away $1000 worth of Gift Cards at the event.
All are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to fill the PODs and assist
over 1000 Richmond area families in need who have written into the
stations.

Friday, the live local broadcasts continue until 9pm Friday night on
iPower 92.1, Kiss-FM 99.3/105.7 and Praise 104.7 FM.
Radio One VP/GM Linda Forem states, “Our biggest need are bicycles
and toys for pre-teens. We know we can’t get a bike for every child,
but we’d surely like to try.”

The toys will be distributed to needy families throughout the
Richmond Metropolitan area this week at a private toy distribution
location. Families in need sent letters to the radio station and over
1000 families are invited to participate in the toy distribution by
invitation only.

PODS of Richmond supplied the PODS as a donation to the events.
Lowe’s has also donated both cash and bicycles to serve the
community for this event.
