Becoming Citizens

Unlike other citizenship classes, this course, held at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, offers students opportunities to personally interact with original historical objects, maps, books, and documents and engage with experts in the history of this state and nation. This course offers expert instruction as well as a unique experience as you prepare yourself for the citizenship test. This course consists of 6 classes on consecutive Thursday evenings. Pre-registration is recommended, but students can register at the door on the evening of the first class. This class is taught in English and students must have permanent resident status and have already submitted or are preparing to submit their N-400 application to become a naturalized citizen. Fall 2026 class dates (all held from 6:00-7:30pm): September 24, October 1, October 8, October 15, October 22, and October 29. Register online or contact Caroline Legros at clegros@virginiahistory.org or call 804.647.4794.
