Richmond Waldorf School has purchased the former Luther Memorial School, located at 1301 Robin Hood Road in Richmond’s Northside. For the past fourteen years, Richmond Waldorf School has rented space from Westover Baptist Church.
Richmond Waldorf School began its continuous operation in the 1996-97 school year with a single kindergarten class, housed on Laburnum Avenue. The school moved to its Westover Hills location in 2003 and graduated its first eighth grade class in 2009.
The School currently has 131 enrolled students from pre-K through eighth grade.
Financing for the school was provided by Virginia Community Capital and funds to purchase the building were raised by the School from November 2016 through February 2017.
The School will host its May Faire, May 13, at the new facility and will offer its summer programs there, beginning July 10. Plans are to relocate this summer to the new 30,000-square foot location, allowing the school to double in size in the coming years. The property was purchased from LMS Lutheran Memorial Foundation, Inc. for $1,850,000. Mark E. Douglas, CCIM, SIOR of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer handled the sale negotiations on behalf of the buyer.
