Have you heard about the latest craze sweeping the nation (other than fidget spinners and slime)? It’s painting and hiding rocks!
Cities from coast to coast have groups dedicated to this artsy family project, and Richmond has joined in on the fun. The official RVA Rocks Facebook page launched in January, and there are already more than nine thousand members of the local group.
Here’s what they say on their page:
RVA Rocks! is the official community ROCKS group for the Richmond, Virginia, area. We are painting rocks, shells, and earthy things to hide around the RVA area to brighten peoples’ day. On the back of your artwork, write: “Post on Facebook @ RVA Rocks!” You can also write “To keep or hide.” If a rock screams at you, by all means keep it forever as your new RVA rock, and tell others about how you found it. The goal is to get lots of people painting. Rock on!
There are a few rules (like don’t hide them in state or national parks), and lots of great rock-painting tips on the page, so be sure to check those out if you decide to join in.
This sounds like a great way to spend time together as a family and get outside and explore our parks, so we’ll definitely be painting and hiding (and we hope, finding!) lots of rocks this summer! Here’s RVA Rocks on Facebook today.
