This coming July, after an overwhelmingly successful inaugural run last summer, Spacebomb Studio will again be hosting a series of music and recording day camps for the youth in our community. Led by Spacebomb’s own Cameron Ralston, who’s bass playing has sent him around the world and back many times, these five-day Summer Camps are specifically designed for musically inclined teenagers. This is a fabulous opportunity to learn all facets of music and recording in a small group environment from an outstanding teacher. All inside a world class studio down the street.
The week will focus on:
- Universal music fundamentals
- Writing, arranging and rehearsing original music
- Recording original music
- Production and Post-Production techniques
- Improvisation, Exploration and Experimentation
- Musicianship
- Collaboration, Delegation and the Spirit of Teamwork in a pro studio environment
- Listening, Analysis and Discussion
We will be writing music, arranging and rehearsing it as a group, recording the music we rehearse, making production decisions together, overdubbing and layering onto the music, and experimenting in the studio before, during and after we record. All of this will be interspersed with listening sessions as well as conversation about music’s historical context and its place in our current culture. Students will take home professional studio-quality CD and Digital Streaming Platform-ready recordings of material created, recorded and produced together throughout the week. This is an exceptionally unique opportunity for young musicians, singers, songwriters and producers seeking a wildly creative, specialized and deeply immersive group learning experience with guidance and wisdom from a real world working professional. All housed in Spacebomb’s legendary Richmond studio.
