Third Annual Dunk Hunger Food Drive Contributes 23,221 Meals to Central Virginia Food Bank
This summer’s pool visits took on a new meaning for many area Richmonders who raised food and funds for the Central Virginia Food Bank through the third annual Dunk Hunger campaign. The swim team and community pools challenge raised the equivalent of 23,221 meals, with Canterbury Recreation Association claiming the Gold Medal with 6,903 meals contributed. Canterbury will be treated to a winners’ bash at their pool at 1300 Pump Road in Richmond’s west end, hosted by Virginia Swim Shop and Richmond Family Magazine.
Since its inception in 2012, the Dunk Hunger campaign raised the equivalent of 71,000 meals for the Central Virginia Food Bank. “We are excited to see this summer program continue to grow, especially at a time when the Food Bank is in such need,” says Margaret Thompson, Richmond Family Magazine Publisher.
