Combined local businesses will sell new and gently-used children’s clothes plus natural, organic and sustainable products for young families.

February 22, 2016 (Richmond, Virginia) – After operating as separate businesses in Carytown for more than five years, children’s stores Franklin Goose and Clover are combining under one roof. Clover, a locally-owned consignment boutique for children (newborn-size 12) and moms-to-be, will sell many of Franklin Goose’s most popular products. This move will make the combined business Central Virginia’s only children’s store focused on sustainable products. Clover already has started selling gently-used cloth diapers, one of Franklin Goose’s best-selling products.

“When my husband and I were presented with the opportunity to work on a new venture and travel abroad, we quickly looked for the right home for Franklin Goose,” explains Doyle. “A number of buyers approached me, but Clover was the logical choice, since it’s just down the street and is a Richmond favorite for children’s and maternity clothes. The shops already have customer overlap, a mutual commitment to the community and a shared focus on sustainable retail.”

About Franklin Goose
In 2009 Doyle and her partners at the time launched Franklin Goose as an online store with a vision of creating a business that offered natural, organic and eco-friendly products. She quickly realized the business needed a brick-and-mortar store, so they opened Franklin Goose in 2010 in Carytown, an eclectic shopping and dining district in Richmond, Virginia. The business became Richmond’s only locally-owned retailer of high-quality, natural products that are safe for babies, children, parents and the environment.

About Clover
Since opening in 2010 Clover has been recognized every year as one of the “Best Children’s Clothing Stores” and “Best Children’s Consignment Shops” in Richmond and Central Virginia. The shop was co-founded by Lyn Page and Jane Crooks, owners of women’s consignment boutique Clementine and resale clothing store Ashby, also in Carytown. In 2014 Alison Anderson, a long-time customer and consignor, joined the team to lead Clover. “We’re thrilled to welcome Franklin Goose’s customers to Clover,” says Anderson. “Sheri has built one of the great businesses in Carytown. Through its service and educational programs, Franklin Goose has created a loyal community of young, educated parents who are passionate about eco-friendly and sustainable products and practices. We’re very committed to providing Richmond and our online customers with the same quality products and exceptional service that families have been receiving from Sheri and her staff.”

Clover plans to offer many of Franklin Goose’s most popular products, including new and gently-used cloth diapers, diapering supplies and baby carriers. Clover also plans to sponsor parenting and cloth diapering classes and workshops. “I am excited that Clover is picking up the community education, awareness and involvement that Franklin Goose has been focused on these last five-and-a-half years,” says Doyle.
