The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation is offering three guided nature hikes along Virginia scenic trails. All fees include transportation and guide.
A trip to the Brown and Williamson Conservation Area will be offered on Thursday, Jan. 23, or Saturday, Jan. 25. Hikers can trek to the vernal pool along the southern border of the area before following the stream through Big Hollow. Ascend to the bluff to view the James River below, and then follow the bluff to its start. The hike will be approximately four miles. The fee is $18 per person, and will depart from the Henricus Historical Park Visitor Center, 251 Henricus Park Road, at 10 a.m., with a return time of 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Feb. 8, hikers can explore the Cumberland Forest and Willis River. This easy hike will start at Winston Lake and continue on the Cumberland Trail, forest roads and a section of the Willis River Trail to complete a five-mile loop. This trip will depart at 9 a.m. from the Rockwood Nature Center, 3401 Courthouse Road, and will return at 4 p.m. The fee is $30 per person.
