Have you ever wanted to learn more about your local government? Would you enjoy meeting directly with staff in various departments, as well as county administration and members of the Board of Supervisors, asking questions and providing feedback?
If so, you should consider signing up for Chesterfield’s Government Citizens Academy (GCA).
“I am new to Chesterfield,” said a participant in the spring 2023 academy. “I will always remember the genuine enjoyment each professional expressed regarding the work they do with each other for the county.”
Registration is open through Aug. 25 for the fall 2023 academy, which will include nine sessions offered at various locations across the county on Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-noon.
The program kicks off Sept. 6 and runs through Nov.8.
Program promotes greater understanding of local government operations
GCA slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Class size is limited, so those unable to attend all nine sessions may be placed on a waiting list.
Launched in 2017, GCA enables Chesterfield residents to become better informed about the local government’s organization and operations through interactive sessions and tours of public facilities. Participants also receive a comprehensive look at the “how” and the “why” of locally administered programs and services.
GCA is intended for a diverse audience, so it’s for you regardless of whether you are a curious high school student, a new business owner, a Chesterfield native or prospective resident, somebody looking for volunteer opportunities, or any other member of the Chesterfield community.
