Experience Colonial history at the popular annual Eppington Heritage Day, Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.Eppington is a circa-1765 plantation built by Francis Eppes VI, Thomas Jefferson’s brother-in-law. Tours of the house, which is rarely open to the public, will be offered.
Activities will include children’s games, period music, storytelling, craft demonstrations, carriage rides and living history. Paul Younger Sr., a third-generation basket maker, will demonstrate the lost art of basket making and will have baskets available for purchase. In addition, the Thomas Jefferson Center for Historic Plants at Monticello will be selling heirloom seeds, plants and books.
