A portion of the fundraising will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of FC Richmond player Addy Kelley, who has cystic fibrosis. Other funds will be earmarked for the club’s new 80-acre soccer complex in Moseley.
Youth soccer players from FC Richmond will be putting their soccer juggling skills on display for a good cause this March. The Chesterfield-based youth soccer program is hosting a Juggle Challenge on March 5 and 6 to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, as well as the club’s new soccer complex development.
FC Richmond’s Juggle Challenge is a fun, soccer juggling skills contest where individual travel soccer players will test themselves to see who can keep their ball off the ground the longest without using their hands. Leading up to the event, players have been tasked with soliciting per-juggle pledges and one-time donations from members of the community.
“Juggling has always been an important expectation for our players and we reinforce these skills every season,” said Trip Ellis, FC Richmond’s director of coaching. “This Juggle Challenge is a chance for our kids to put their skills to the test, interact with their communities, and raise valuable funds to support our club, our teammate, and a great cause.”
In honor of longtime FC Richmond player Addy Kelley, a portion of the fundraising from the Juggle Challenge will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Kelley is a U11 Mystx player and has cystic fibrosis, but she doesn’t let it get in her way on or off the soccer pitch. Besides giving it her all for FC Richmond, Kelley also hosts an annual golf tournament to help raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The remainder of the fundraising proceeds from the Juggle Challenge will be earmarked for the development of the club’s new 80-acre soccer complex, which is set to break ground in the near future on Genito Road in Moseley.
FC Richmond’s Juggle Challenge will take place on March 5 and 6 at the club’s current practice and match fields at Huguenot Park (10901 Robious Rd., Richmond, Va. 23235).
