Explore Your Family History at Free Clinics

The Genealogical Research Institute of Virginia (GRIVA) announces a spring slate of lectures and research trips to be held at Bon Air Presbyterian Church. The public is invited to attend and there is no fee.

Finding a Needle in a Haystack: Working with Manuscripts, presented by Barbara Vines Little, CG, FNGS, FVGS, past president of the National Genealogical Society. She will discuss the use of archival finding aids and other resources to locate manuscript material, and then offer techniques to narrow the focus of the search. She will speak at 2:15 pm, Tuesday March 24, 2015.

Searching for Cemeteries presented by Bette Kot, librarian for twenty years with the California Genealogical Society and genealogical research instructor. She will suggest methods for successful death and burial research. Her program will take place at 7:45 pm, Tuesday, April 28, 2015.

Navigating FamilySearch.org is the final lecture, presented by Emily Golightly Rusk, a twenty-year volunteer librarian at the Monument Avenue Family History Center. Emily will lead a virtual tour of the genealogical research website maintained by the LDS Family History Library at 7:45 pm, Tuesday, May 26, 2015.
