National Library Week is April 7 through 13, 2024. Richmond Public Library encourages everyone in the community to visit the library to take part in the festivities and explore all the library has to offer.
Libraries give us a green light to experience something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and pursue passions through book clubs, story times, movie nights, crafting classes, lectures, and more. Richmond Public Library offers a wide array of programs, classes and resources, including sewing classes, genealogy workshops, English Language Acquisition classes, STEAM Team, LEGO Club, early literacy story times, gaming for teens, and more.
Access for All and Free Resources at Public Libraries
Libraries play a pivotal role in economic development by providing resources and support for job seekers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. Richmond Public Library supports City residents with services such as notarizing, copying and faxing, application and resume assistance, small business legal workshops, and information sessions to help you start a nonprofit.
No matter where you find yourself on the roadmap through life’s journey – preparing for a new career, launching a business, raising a family, or settling into retirement – Richmond Public Library offers the resources and support you need and an inclusive and supportive community where you will feel welcome.
National Library Week Programs and Scheduling
To celebrate National Library Week, Richmond Public Library has several exciting events planned. Visit any of RPL’s nine locations to pick up fun activities and swag (while supplies last). We’ll have coloring pages, word searches, a Dewey Decimal quiz, and a cool challenge card to help you get involved throughout the week. We also have a limited number of tote bags we’ll be giving away on a first come, first served basis. Remember, Broad Rock, Ginter Park, Main and West End are all open on Sundays if you want to snag one early in the week.
Ripple will be making appearances throughout the week for some very special National Library Week story times. In addition to his groovy dance moves and fun photo ops, Ripple will also be passing out Ripple plushies with RPL’s brand new logo on the shirt.
Adults can enjoy two fun events this week:
Homegrown Trivia night at Starr Hill Beer Hall & Rooftop (3406 West Leigh St. Richmond, VA 23230) on Monday, April 8, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
Pop-Up Library at City Hall (900 E. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23219) on Wednesday, April 10, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Stop by to sign up for a library card, learn about services, and pick up some swag.
