One year later, the life of Cameron Gallagher will be honored by Gayle Schrier Smith, MD, and the staff of Partners in Pediatrics with a celebration on March 16, 2015, at 7110 Forest Avenue, Suite 105 Richmond, VA 23226, from three to five o’clock. The community is welcome to attend.
Those who knew Cameron Gallagher will remember her beautiful smile and her can-do attitude about anything she tackled in life. What many people didn’t know is that Cameron also struggled with depression. There were times when she couldn’t even go to school. Cameron never quit and constantly developed new strategies to cope with her sadness. She filled notebooks with positive quotes, wrote them on paper, and hung them all over her house. Cameron fought every day to become the person she knew she could be, a happy and positive leader.
Following Cameron’s untimely passing after crossing the finish line of a half-marathon in Virginia Beach, a Richmond-based running event was created in her honor, The “Speak Up 5K.” This annual event is designed to honor Cameron and to bring attention to the emotional struggles of many kids. Throughout the event, positive quotes are shared to show support and raise a voice for those who are battling anxiety and depression. Additional details about this event can be found on the sponsoring foundation website http://speakup5k.com/.
Friends and staff of Partners in Pediatrics will be wearing Speak Up 5K attire and remembering the life and accomplishments of Cameron K. Gallagher. Please join them in this celebration.
