A Richmond, Virginia, native is serving with the U.S. Navy’s cutting-edge maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft squadron in Jacksonville, Florida.
Petty Officer 1st Class Delford Lassiter joined the Navy seventeen years ago. Today, Lassiter serves as an aviation electrician’s mate.
“My mother and father both served in the Army, so I’m honored to continue a military legacy,” said Lassiter. “My father retired after 21 years, and he set a great example for me. I aspire to retire from the Navy as he did from the Army.”

Fireman Nicolas Ricoruiz, a native of Richmond, Virginia, joined the Navy one year ago. Today, Ricoruiz serves as a machinist’s mate aboard USS Tripoli.
“I joined the Navy to travel and gain new experiences,” said Ricoruiz.
Growing up in Richmond, Ricoruiz attended Lloyd C. Bird High School and graduated in 2016. Today, Ricoruiz uses the same skills and values learned in Richmond to succeed in the military.
“I always try to strive for success because of the supportive people who have been in my life and helped me along the way,” said Ricoruiz.
