Families can clean out their closets and donate their used, but still usable shoes to the collection. While shoes for all seasons and ages are needed, children’s and men’s shoes are historically the least donated and most needed. Saxon Shoes for the Needy donations will be accepted now through through December 24, 2014 at Saxon Shoes in Richmond at Short Pump Town Center and in Fredericksburg at The Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre. The collected shoes will be presented to The Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center in Richmond and The Salvation Army in Fredericksburg.
This year for the first time, donors can take a selfie with their shoe donation and post it to Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with the text “My Saxon Shoes for the Needy Selfie.” Donate through Dec 24th at either location @saxonshoes #saxonselfies.” #SaxonSelfies to ensure entry into the weekly drawing for a $25 Saxon gift card. Winners are chosen every Thursday at noon at www.facebook.com/saxonshoes. Amanda Weiner, Special Projects Coordinator for Saxon says “We wanted some way for donors to be able to share what they are doing and encourage their friends and family to do the same. #SaxonSelfies is our way to do that. More donations mean more shoes to benefit local families in need.”
Saxon encourages participation from both individuals and families, as well as groups from schools, churches, businesses and other organizations. Groups can register at the Saxon Shoes website.
