The Science Museum of Virginia is not throwing away its shot – at offering science lovers special, reduced-admission prices. This news is music to the ears of guests across Virginia who only have to spend a Hamilton – aka a $10 bill – to experience the Science Museum’s packed building of interactive exhibitions, labs, makerspaces, and demos.
The Science Museum isn’t only offering $10 admission once. It’s launching 10 for $10: ten days over the course of a year when admission is only $10 for every ticket category.
Ten for $10 at the Science Museum
The Science Museum is kicking off the 10 for $10 series with discounted admission on Thursday, May 18, International Museum Day. The remaining $10 Days in this calendar year include:
- June 2 – This includes the daytime experience and evening event Science After Dark: Ready to Launch, which is themed around the touring exhibition Space: An-Out-of-Gravity Experience. That means the $10 admission extends until 8 p.m.!
- August 26 – Since it’s the summer of space in Richmond, the Science Museum is celebrating NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson’s birthday.
- September 30 – The Science Museum is combining three celebrations into one: Hispanic Heritage Month, the ¡Virginia Fiesta! event and a $10 day.
- October 10 – It’s 10.10. How can $10 admission not happen on 10.10?!
- November 8 – In recognition of National STEM Day, visit the Science Museum to innovate (read: N-O-V8) in The Forge.
The first half of next year’s $10 Days are listed on the Science Museum’s website.

Why $10 Admission Days Are Semi-Scientifically Proven to be Awesome
$10 Days mean admission is the same price for everyone, regardless of ticket category. Science Museum members and children two and younger, as well as active-duty military, retired military, veterans and teachers with ID receive free regular admission every day. Further discounted tickets are available for EBT cardholders through the Museums for All program.
The $10 admission includes permanent exhibitions, labs, makerspace and demos. Dome features and admission to Space: An-Out-of-Gravity Experience require additional tickets.
More science is always good! Creating an experience that is accessible for all is part of the Science Museum’s mission and values. The organization focuses on minimizing and eliminating obstacles – financial and other – to ensure the broadest cross section of the community has access to STEM resources.
Guests may pre-purchase tickets on the Science Museum’s website or purchase admission at Guest Services when they arrive.
The Science Museum of Virginia is located at 2500 W. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23220.
