Students, faculty, and families of Sabot at Stony Point School will honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day by unfurling a 188-foot-long banner on the T. Tyler Potterfield “T Pot” pedestrian bridge at one o’clock on Monday, January 16, 2017.
All of Sabot’s preschool through grade eight students worked on the banner. The three, four and five-years-olds partnered with third, fourth and fifth graders to paint the words, “Honor MLK! Build Bridges Between One Another.”
Many schools celebrate Dr. King’s life by closing their doors for the day. Sabot honors the holiday by taking its students into the city to share their reflections on the Civil Rights leader’s work.
Sabot at Stony Point is an accredited independent school in Richmond’s Bon Air neighborhood serving children in preschool through eighth grade. The school was formed in 2007 when Sabot School and Stony Point School merged. For more information, visit www.sabotatstonypoint.org.
