Turn down the lights and turn up the science at the Science Museum of Virginia from five to nine o’clock on Friday, October 16. The Museum presents Science After Dark: Glow! It’s a special evening featuring fire dancers, glowing experiments, and illuminating astronomy presentations.
Blacklight crafts and games await scientists of all ages, from fluorescent bowling and drawing to blacklight slime and a giant LiteBrite. Glow! attendees can write with light on glow-in-the-dark walls, create their own glowing tape art and experiment with long-exposure photography to create stunning images. Guests will be able to explore three floors of interactive exhibits, to see Alien Worlds and Androids come to life, and sample glowing food in the Boost! gallery. The Dome theater will feature a back-to-back all-live Cosmic Expeditions at 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm, followed by a special screening of the classic movie, Back to the Future Part II, at 8 pm. Guests can get an up-close view of a real DeLorean in the rotunda or step outside to stargaze with the Richmond Astronomical Society. Activities are recommended for kids eight and up.
