Looking for a festive and family-friendly way to celebrate the holidays in Richmond? Mark your calendars for Winter Wander, returning to the Valentine on Sunday, December 14, from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM for a joyful afternoon packed with activities, performances and community cheer. This annual neighborhood tradition transforms the museum’s picturesque block of East Clay Street into a lively holiday hub.
Seasonal Treats, Crafts, and More

Visitors can enjoy classic seasonal treats like hot cocoa and cookies, get creative with hands-on crafts and even hop aboard a horse-drawn carriage for a ride around the block. Inside the museum, guests can take part in stationed tours of the Wickham House, while the Valentine Garden welcomes some very special four-legged guests: goats!
This year’s event also features book signings with local authors Mary Burress and Libby McNamee, offering families a chance to pick up meaningful holiday gifts while supporting Richmond storytellers.
Festive Entertainment Takes the Stage

Music and movement take center stage, too, with lively performances from groups across the region, including the Richmond Ballet’s Minds in Motion Ambassadors, the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra Honors Chamber Ensembles, the Fox Elementary School Choir, Sayaw Diversity, Maggie Walker Bhangra, and Klezm’Or’Ami’m.
Free Trolley Ride to Historic Destinations

To round out the afternoon, families can hop on a free trolley connecting to other nearby historic sites including the White House of the Confederacy, Monumental Church, the John Marshall House, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, The Poe Museum, and Masons’ Hall.
Winter Wander is always free and open to the public. Bundle up, bring the family and join the Valentine for a festive celebration filled with Richmond history, community spirit and holiday magic.
