Children’s Hospital Foundation will host its fourth annual Words & Wisdom event to discuss nurturing resilience in children and families on Thursday, September 23, at 7 p.m.
The virtual event and discussion will feature renowned clinical psychologist Dr. Robert Brooks. Brooks will speak to how to nurture resiliency in children and families and highlight his new book Tenacity in Children. A Q&A panel at the end of the event will allow attendees to pose questions to a panel of experts related to helping children cope with today’s unique challenges.
Brooks has lectured nationally and internationally and written extensively on the themes of resilience, parenting, family relationships, school climate and balancing our personal and professional lives. He is the author or co-author of 19 books and has appeared in several video projects about ways to help children become more responsible, self-disciplined, hopeful and resilient.
“With all that’s happening in our world today, we know that parents and guardians are concerned about the impact on children, and they want to foster hope and wonder, especially during these challenging times,” said Lauren Moore, President and CEO of Children’s Hospital Foundation. “We’re so fortunate to learn from Dr. Brooks and I’m looking forward to the positive impact his insights have on those who attend.”
Q&A panel members will include Robert Findling, M.D., M.B.A., Chair, Department of Psychiatry; Interim Division Chair, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Elias Neujahr, M.H.A., M.B.A., President of Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
Words & Wisdom is planned, organized, and executed by the Senior Board of the Children’s Hospital Foundation, a group of volunteers who offer their time to raise funds for the hospital.
The event will include an online auction which will go live September 16 and close the evening of the event.
