We’re in the thick of autumn here in beautiful Richmond, Virginia, and the crazed, way-too-busy holiday season is breathing down our necks.
But before we get to that, I have a small request for a little of your time (I know, what time?!). We at RFM have been putting together this magazine for you each month, and, of course, we think it’s FABULOUS! We’ve heard that many of you feel the same way, and that’s just one of the things for which I’m so grateful in this month of giving thanks. But we don’t want to rest on our laurels, oh no.We want to know what we can do to make the magazine for parents even better.Tell us about you, where you pick up the magazine (or where you wish you could grab a copy), which departments you love, what you’d like to read about in future issues. Then it will be time for the madness of the holiday season to begin. Check out Victoria’s story about changing up Thanksgiving on page 12. Maybe this is the year to try something new with your family. An Outer Banks weekend retreat perhaps? Lots of rental houses have TWO ovens – what a help that would be on Turkey Day! How about taking the whole crew out to eat and letting someone else handle the cooking and clean-up? Or a spur-of-the-moment trip to the Big Apple to watch the parade in person?
Whatever you decide, enjoy the time together as a family, and take time to remember (and share with your kids) the true meaning behind the holidays.
I’m pretty sure those Pilgrims didn’t jump on the Mayflower and head over here to slave away in front of a hot oven all day – but I’ll bet they enjoyed a great magazine on the trip!
