Children’s Day at VMFA
May 5 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeChildren See Samurai Armor for Free!
In honor of the Japanese holiday Children’s Day, or Kodomo no hi, VMFA is pleased to offer exhibition tickets for children aged 17 and under to see Samurai Armor from the Collection of Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller for free.
Get tickets at Visitor Services or reserve them online using promo code CD2024.
Art-Making Activity and Koinobori*
Upon arrival, stop by Visitor Services where each child in your group may receive a Samurai Armor–related art activity to make at home and a free Koinobori, (a cloth streamer in the shape of a carp), which is a traditional symbol of Children’s Day.
*Because the Art Education Center will be closed to accommodate preparations for that day’s Teen Stylin’ runway event, the take-home art-making activity and Koinobori cloth streamers are in lieu of Open Studio Sunday. The cloth streamers are available while supplies last.
Free youth admission on May 5 to Samurai Armor from the Collection of Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller is made possible by a grant from the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust.
Koinobori streamers are provided by SouthState Bank.
