Collections Connections LIVE!

October 24 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$

Beginning in 1824, the Marquis de Lafayette, the last surviving general of the Revolutionary War, made a tour of the United States of America. Virginians and Richmonders received him as a hero. He was welcomed with dances, monuments, and ceremony held in his honor every stop along the way. In honor of the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s visit to Richmond, The Valentine will be exploring the ways Richmonders dressed in the 1820s. Get a glimpse at the fashion, style, and splendor of Richmond over two centuries ago. View selections from the Valentine’s holdings currently not on exhibit and learn about the fascinating Richmond stories behind them.
