Commemorate the muster of over 500 militia men from Dinwiddie County, Virginia who answered the call at Dinwiddie Courthouse in June of 1775. After forming an active Committee of Correspondence in protest of the Intolerable Acts, before the events of Lexington and Concord, Dinwiddie residents rose to join the patriot cause for liberty.

The day’s program schedule will offer an encampment with American Revolutionary War soldiers throughout the day. They will provide a mock militia enlistment and drill with “stick” muskets for the young and young at heart. A weapon and camp life demonstrations will be offered at specific times. A ceremony will include speakers from the Park, Dinwiddie County Government, U.S. Army, National Guard, a Color Guard and cannon fire salute. Actor and historian, Charles Wissinger will portray Patrick Henry and offer a talk on the life of the founding father and present his “Liberty or Death” speech. Additional outside organizational displays and a related documentary film will also be offered. This is a VA250 event.
