The Balance Project- Central Virginia

Thinking about a first phone for your child this holiday season? Come see what else is out there before you buy. The Mindful Tech Showcase brings together kid-safe phones, smartphone alternatives, new-school landlines, screen-free alarm clocks, child-safe home routers, and safety and digital wellness tools, all in one room. Pick things up, try them out, and compare options side by side to find the right fit for your family. This isn’t just for kids, either. There are minimalist devices for grown-ups who’d like their own phone to have a little less pull. It’s a laid-back drop-in event, so come when it works for you and stay as long as you like. Kids are welcome, and there will be appetizers to snack on while you look around. Bring your questions and swap notes with other parents figuring out the same things. You can also grab a booklet to keep thinking it over at home. The Balance Project Central Virginia is the local chapter of The Balance Project, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps kids, families and communities find a healthy balance between screen-life and real-life. Our motto is simple: Not anti-tech. Pro-childhood. Families and educators across 13 Central Virginia counties and cities are part of the chapter, working with schools and with each other to help kids grow up independent and confident.
