Story Time at the Memorial: Month of the Military Child
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, join us for Storytime at the Memorial: Month of the Military Child. Featured Book: “America’s Flag Story” by Karen S. Robbins. Special guests from the Daughters of the American Revolution – William Byrd Chapter will give away copies of the featured book to the first 25 children who attend the program. Craft: Make American Flag streamers, design and press your own Storytime buttons, color patriotic coloring sheets and more. Experience educator-led readings of children’s history books and themed craft activities on second Saturdays of the month at VWM. Programs take place in Russell Scott Hall at 10:30 a.m. Storytime at the Memorial programs are free and open to children and families. The suggested age range for participants is 4 to 10 years old. The mission of the Virginia War Memorial is to Honor Veterans, Preserve History, Educate Youth, and Inspire Patriotism in All. Dedicated in 1956, the Memorial includes the names of the nearly 12,000 Virginia heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War II, the Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars, and the Global War on Terrorism. The Virginia War Memorial is and will always be the Commonwealth’s tribute to those who served and most especially, to those who died defending our freedoms.
