Theatre on the James Presents Euripides’ Classic Tragedy Medea

The Theatre on the James, the student-led theatre company at James River High School, presents one of the most powerful plays ever written, Euripides’ timeless tragedy Medea. The tragedy is brought into the modern day, as Medea is abandoned by her husband in a country that is not her home. Left without friends and without a home, Medea battles between her overwhelming grief and her need to punish the man who has taken everything from her. As the Nurse tells us, “Terrible things breed in broken hearts,” and Medea’s heartbreak will drive her to destroy those that she holds most dear.
