What is Homeschooling?

Whether you are exploring educational alternatives for the very first time, actively preparing to transition into home education, or seeking an encouraging academic community for your student, join Journey Christian Academy for our upcoming information session: “What is Homeschooling?” Hosted on the campus of Journey Christian Church in Midlothian, this welcoming event is designed to equip families with clarity, confidence, and practical guidance for every step of the homeschooling journey. During this comprehensive informational gathering, Academy leadership will break down home education fundamentals, answer common family questions, and outline Virginia state legal compliance, including Notice of Intent (NOI) filing procedures under state code § 22.1-254.1 and annual academic assessment requirements. Attendees will also learn about the heart, academic vision, and supportive environment of Journey Christian Academy, serving students in grades 4–12. Rooted in our graduate vision of “The Anchor and The Arrow,” Journey Christian Academy partners with parents through college-preparatory coursework grounded in a biblical worldview, intentional Christian discipleship, and a vibrant community of faith. The session features an interactive Q&A where parents can speak directly with leadership and experienced homeschool parent mentors, receive guidance on academic pacing, and collect comprehensive informational packets.
