Make a Wintry Woodland Friend

Materials

Kids Can Do - Make Snowy Pine Cone Owls with these materials

• Pine cone

• Scissors

• Cotton balls

• Pipe cleaners

• Glue dots (or school glue – you’ll just have to be gentle with your owl for several minutes while the glue dries)

• Googly eyes

 Instructions

1. Pull apart the cotton balls, unrolling them if possible.

2. Wrap cotton ball fluff around the pinecone, securing it in the little grooves.

3. Cut pipe cleaners in approximately 2-inch segments for the wings. Fold them in half and give a little twist, then place them on the owl, pushing them in between the scales.

4. Repeat step 3 for the beak, with a slightly smaller piece of pipe cleaner.

5. Glue on the eyes. Put a glue dot or a little school glue on the backs of the googly eyes, and place them on the owl.

6. Your owl is finished! Find a good home for it to perch or let it roam around freely.
