Award-Winning Books Introduce Kids to the Magical World of Invention

Husband and wife co-authors David and Emberli Pridham are on a mission – to introduce children to the fascinating world of inventors and inventions and help encourage kids’ creativity.  Noted by child development experts for sparking the imagination of growing children, the Pridhams’ If Not You, Then Who? books showcase how inventions and inventors are everywhere, how inventors solve everyday problems, how some of our most enduring inventions were actually created by accident, and how inventors make it their primary business to always remain alert to needs of the public.

Through each of the titles in the If Not You, Then Who? seven-book series, young readers will discover how inventors excel at identifying and framing problems, see problems from many different angles and perspectives, enlist the help and perspective of others, underscoring the value of teamwork, make prototypes from readily available materials, and find the best ways to communicate their inventions to the world.  “As children read the If Not You, Then Who? books, they will discover why they should aspire to invent and how inventors take note of the problems people face in their daily lives and help solve them through creativity and innovation. “The If Not You, Then Who? books serve to educate, entertain and inspire children to embark on their own journey of invention and work to help build a better world,” said Emberli Pridham. “It is imperative that students are prepared for the future, and learning the process of inventing does just that. By learning about past inventions and applying the skills involved, they will be positioned to have the confidence to create their future. Plus, the bonus is that inventing offers fun and engaging hands-on project-based learning for children of all ages,” she added.

The If Not You, Then Who? book titles feature nine-year-old Brooke Fairley and her seven-year-old brother Noah as they apply their vivid imaginations to create their own inventions, all the while exploring how Inventors solve everyday problems, such as creating inventions that help the local environment and coming up with a solution to protect their treehouse from a pending storm.

Select If Not You Then Who? Titles to be Featured at National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum

Beginning this month, select titles from the Pridhams’ celebrated book series can be found in the gift shop of the National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum, located at 600 Dulany St, Alexandria, Virginia.  The world-class museum applies its impressive resources to honor the great inventors who helped to build the world around us, while inspiring the innovators of tomorrow and challenging today’s generation of creative thinkers to design the future. Titles from the If Not You, Then Who? book series that can be found at the museum’s gift shop include If Not You, Then Who: Noah’s Treehouse and If Not You, Then Who: Young Inventors Journal.  In Noah’s Treehouse, Dad and Grandpa rally around the siblings to help build their dream treehouse.  But as the family races to complete the treehouse before an expected meteor shower arrives, they turn to innovation and invention to save the day. A must-have for any  budding inventor, The Young Inventors Journal features a wide array of fun puzzles and games, all designed to help kids learn how to think like an inventor and develop their own ideas. “We are thrilled to debut our If Not You, Then Who? book titles at the gift shop of the prestigious National Inventors Hall of Fame Museum, and invite the community to check out the books as they enjoy the museum with their families,” said David Pridham.

Children's book series, If Not You, Then Who? inspires cildren and builds confidence.
