Chesterfield County Public Library will host a free family festival celebrating Latin American arts and culture and children’s literature. At the fifth annual El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros, festival-goers can:
• See performances by Flamenco Gallardo and Capoeira Resistencia of Bon Air.
• Take in cooking demonstrations and a Mexican art display by La Milpa restaurant, and music by DJ Orangel Bustamante, and buy authentic Mexican food and ice cream.
• Win free Spanish-language and English-language books.
• Enjoy bilingual Spanish-English story times and children’s parades with puppets.
• Create paintings with artist Jorge Diaz at the VACLAA Galeria Movimiento bus.
• Make yarn paintings, lucha libre wrestler masks, and traditional Mexican paper flowers.
• Meet Richmond Kickers mascot Kickeroo, take shots at a goal, and whack a piñata.
The festival will be Saturday, April 27, 11 a.m. -3 p.m. at Meadowdale Library,
