Richmond and Henrico Health Districts (RHHD) have partnered with area schools to offer vaccination and physicals to children so they can meet requirements and start the school year in health. To meet state requirements to enter the school year, students new to RPS elementary schools must receive a physical and all students must be up to date on their vaccinations. In particular, there are several vaccines required for entry into 7th and 12th grades. COVID-19 vaccines are not required for school entry, however RHHD encourages all children ages 12 and up to get the COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves and others.
Parents are encouraged to get in touch with their child’s pediatrician. There are also publicly available and free opportunities for children to get caught up on their vaccinations and physicals before the start of the school year.
