A new Mobile Information and Resource vehicle is set to hit the road in Chesterfield County.

County officials formerly introduced its new Mobile Information and Resource Vehicle, or MIRV, during the opening of the 12th annual Chesterfield County Farmers Market.

A former ambulance vehicle, the MIRV will travel to different sites and events across the county, informing residents and visitors about Chesterfield resources, attractions and information.

“We wanted to find a way to connect with visitors and residents about what we have to offer,” said J.C. Poma, Chesterfield County Sports, Visitation and Entertainment Department executive director. “With our growing sports tourism sector, MIRV provides a way to meet people where they are and compel them to learn about other attractions, places of interests and activities we have to offer in Chesterfield County.”

The new mobile vehicle will also play a key role in connecting with Chesterfield neighborhoods, by rolling into communities with information about resources to help educate residents about key services the county provides.

“This is an opportunity for us to really reach populations with resources and information right in their neighborhoods,” said Jim Holland, Chesterfield County Board of Supervisor Chair and Dale District Supervisor. “Chesterfield is a very large county, with a diverse cross section of people and neighborhoods. Sometimes we have to meet these residents where they are, and this new vehicle provides us a tremendous opportunity to do so.”
