Agecroft Hall and Gardens will host its annual Yuletides open house on Sunday, December 14, from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. Historic reenactors will demonstrate holiday traditions common in 17th-century England, 19th-century London, and 20th-century Richmond, Virginia, with activities and performances both inside and outside the museum.

Guests may create holiday crafts, enjoy lively music and entertainment, visit with Father Christmas, and more. Agecroft Hall will be open for abbreviated self-guided tours of its Tudor-era museum, which will be adorned with holiday decorations from the 1600s to the 1940s.

The Agecroft Sweets Shop and gift shop will offer locally-crafted baked goods, souvenirs, books, jewelry, ornaments, toys and much more. Visitors may also purchase coffee, pastries, homemade breads and other tempting treats from Eddie Rose Coffee, Petty’s Pastries, and Shelby Lynn’s Artisan Bakehouse, and a facepainting station and cups of hot cider will be available on the back lawn.

“Every year we get such a wonderful mix of visitors,” says Anne Kenny-Urban, executive director of Agecroft Hall and Gardens. “I love seeing guests at Yuletides interacting with costumed reenactors, admiring historical holiday decorations, playing games, taking in performances, and overall, just really enjoying a special day out with family and friends. It’s a great way to get in the holiday spirit and fit in a little time traveling while you’re at it!”

Gates open at 12 p.m. No registration is required. This is a rain-or-shine event.
