This fall, Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity is bringing the community together to create special spaces for local children through its Project Playhouse program.
From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, teams will build and decorate children’s playhouses in the back parking lot of Final Gravity (6118 Lakeside Ave, Richmond, VA 23228). Each completed playhouse will be donated to a local family, giving a child a place to imagine, create, play, and call their own.

Project Playhouse also supports Richmond Habitat’s larger mission of providing families with affordable housing solutions and highlighting the importance of having a safe, stable place to call home.
Teams can sponsor a playhouse for $2,500. Each team receives a pre-cut kit, building materials, tools, and a theme selected by the family receiving the playhouse. An online crowdfunding option is also available for teams that want to raise the sponsorship together. For questions and to sponsor a playhouse, contact Whitney Guthrie at wguthrie@richmondhabitat.org.
Richmond Habitat is also accepting applications and nominations for playhouse recipients. Families must live in the City of Richmond, Chesterfield County, or Henrico County, own their home, and have a yard where the playhouse can be placed. The finished playhouses are approximately 4 feet by 5 feet with a 6-foot roof pitch and are best suited for children ages 3 to 8.
Put together a team of your coworkers, friends, or family and join Project Playhouse Program for a fun way to make a meaningful difference for children in the local community.
