I picked up The Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi after hearing lots of buzz about it online. I’m always up for reading books that teach me something about bettering myself and my life, and this turned out to be one of the most helpful books I’ve read in a long time. Adachi’s approach is all about being a genius about the things that matter most and being lazy about the things that don’t. Her advice is practical and low-pressure, which made it easy to apply in my everyday routine.
One of my favorite tips from the book is “Decide Once.” An example of this is having the same meal on a certain night of the week. After reading The Lazy Genius Way, I made the decision once that my family eats the same meal on Mondays and Fridays every week, so that’s two out of seven nights of the week that I don’t have to think about what to make for dinner – it’s already been decided for me!
I also appreciated her reminder to start small and give myself grace – something that can be hard to do when you’re a perfectionist juggling a million things on your to-do list. Something I’m sure you can relate to, too.
Kendra writes with humor, empathy, and real-life wisdom. Reading this felt like chatting with a friend who’s been there, and I still find myself going back to her lazy genius principles whenever life starts to feel a little hectic.
